Golden: Gay Asian Men Writing About Sex

With gay male sexuality represented overwhelmingly in the US as by and for white men, and Asian male sexuality presented as almost exclusively heterosexual, there’s a long-standing and pronounced void when it comes to the voices and experiences of Asian gay men. So much so that some men feel invisible on one hand while on the other, depicted as a docile stereotype or fetish.

In order to overturn this scenario, Golden (working title) is a collection of personal essays by Asian gay, bisexual, trans, and queer men on sex. Among the topics to be included are hook ups, dating, romance, porn, body image, aging, marriage, coming out, family issues, and of course sex–one on one, groups, and solo. From extreme to mild and everything in between, no topic is off limits. Stories of all sexual experiences are welcome however graphic or at odds with traditional sexual norms, queer or otherwise.
